Air Cadets, friends and families from 211 (Newbury) Squadron Air Training Corps Squadron came together last Saturday to hold a Ball to commemorate the Battle of Britain and raise money for the RAF Association.
The Ball was set to coincide with Battle of Britain Sunday to mark the anniversary of the largest air battle in the history of the RAF.
The chosen charity for the Ball was the RAF Association, an organization that helps servicemen of the RAF and their families through social and financial support. The RAFA provides a crucial role to the veterans from conflicts from all over the world.
Plt Off Pye, Newbury Squadrons Training Officer said “We all had a fantastic night; everyone enjoyed the atmosphere, the dancing and the food along with meeting up with old friends from the Squadron.”
The Ball was a huge success, raising over £477 for charity. “The Ball could not have been possible without the generous support of local businesses; the Royal British Legion who provided the hall and catering; and of course the cadets, friends and families who made it a fantastic night," said Cadet Charles Hindhaugh who organized the event.
The Air Cadets are currently recruiting new cadets to the squadron, with the next intake starting on 29th September 2008. If you are between 13 & 18 and are interested in taking part in the wide range of activities we offer, please contact the squadron using the "Join Us" link.
