The Commanding Officers Parade is a quarterly event in which we reflect on the Squadrons achievements over the last 3 months, present medals and awards earned during this period, and welcome new recruits and enrol them into the squadron.
Congratulations must be extended to Cadet Toby Willis who, on 3rd April, was promoted to a Corporal. His promotion was earned by hard work and lots of effort over the last year â giving 110% at every opportunity and demonstrating his leadership skills over a number of events.
In the period from January to March a number of new cadets started on Newbury Squadron. All are now second class cadets and are working hard towards their First Class classification, which will enable them to go Flying, attend RAF Stations and Camps, and to go shooting.
The parade also saw the welcome return of Pilot Officer Chris Tocher, a former Cadet Warrant Officer on Newbury Squadron, who had been on detachment to Bracknell Squadron following his Initial Officer Course at RAF Cranwell. Plt Of Tocher is looking forward to taking on the Training Officer role.
The Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Simon Cragg, said âIn such a busy squadron, itâs good to have an evening in which we can reflect in our successes over recent months â particularly our successful exam results, fundraising and sporting achievements.
It also gives me great pleasure to promote cadets, such as Cpl Willis, in recognition of their service and commitment to the squadron and everything it stands for.
The next COâ's parade will take place in July, and coincides with our next recruitment intake evening. If you are interested in joining 211 (Newbury) Squadron, please see our Recruitment Pages or contact us to arrange a visit and meet some cadets.
