Forces Rugby comes to Newbury - April 2006

On 19th April Newbury Rugby Club played host to the Inter Services Rugby Championships - and Newbury Squadron were there to cheer on the Royal Air Force!

In this leg of the tournament, the Royal Air Force bore up to the might of the British Army – and Newbury Air Cadets showed up in strength to cheer on their parent service.

Dressed in their smart blue uniform, the cadets gave it their all whilst supporting the RAF and providing some healthy inter-service banter for the Army!

Newbury Squadron – which has made representations for the Thames Valley Wing Rugby team – has a strong tradition of being a sporting squadron, and the RAF vs Army Rugby match was a perfect opportunity to introduce the younger members of the squadron into the game!

Unfortunately, despite all our efforts in supporting, but mostly those of the RAF team playing, the Army won the day. Regardless, of the score, the match was entertaining to watch and a good night out was had by all!
