Cadet's from 211 (Newbury) Squadron demonstrated their skills last weekend, with a team attending the Inter-Services Cadet Rifle Meeting (ISCRM) at Bisley - home of target shooting in the UK.
The ISCRM is an annual event which draws cadets from the three services - Army, Navy & Air Force - together, along with some teams from overseas, to compete in a target shooting competition.
The 2006 team included FS Richard Hobbs, ISgt James Dunwell, Sgt Ollie Holman, Cdt Nahomi Ward & Cdt Adam Waters - as well as their coach & mentor AWO Ian Lowe. The three day competition saw the cadets compete over ever increasing distances - which increases the difficulty, and with it, the challenge!!!
Out of the 212 teams which took part, Newbury, which made a joint representation for the whole of the Thames Valley Wing (along with Wokingham Squadron) came 85th - not bad for a first attempt at the competition!!!
The Cadet 100, a prize awarded to the top 100 shots of the 848 cadets involved in the competition, was just missed by ISgt Dunwell - who missed out by only 3 points.
Congratulations to all who took part - and good luck for next years competition!!!
